What are we solving for?
At the heart of the Cricket Wireless homepage redesign was the need to help users quickly discover our latest promotions while strengthening our brand presence throughout the online experience. We recognized that users often missed out on valuable offers or felt disconnected from the brand, resulting in lower engagement and fewer conversions.
To address this, we restructured the homepage to immediately showcase our most compelling promos and infused the design with Cricket’s unique visual identity; from our signature colors to friendly, approachable graphics and messaging. This approach not only creates a more welcoming and cohesive environment but also guides users further into the shopping funnel. By tracking click-through rates, scroll reach, and checkout-to-receipt conversions, we ensured the redesign was both engaging and effective, ultimately driving more users to explore, engage, and complete their purchase journey.
DATA & ANALYTICS
Data was at the core of the Cricket Wireless homepage redesign. Leveraging Google Analytics, we closely examined user segments, behavior flows, and key conversion points to understand how visitors interacted with our site and where we could improve. Fullstory provided an additional layer of insight, allowing us to observe real user sessions, identify navigation pain points, and uncover gaps in promo visibility and engagement.
Our goal was to increase engagement with secondary promotional banners and encourage users to explore more of the homepage. After launching the redesign, we saw a 17.75% increase in clicks to the three secondary banners directly below the lead banner—validating our hypothesis that a more prominent and inviting promo layout would drive higher engagement in these areas.
While this represented a simple redistribution of clicks rather than a net increase in overall engagement, it confirmed that users were more effectively discovering the promos we wanted to highlight. In addition, scroll depth—measured by engagement with the TryCricket section at the bottom of the page rose by an impressive 87.68%, indicating that visitors were journeying deeper into the content. Notably, other metrics such as overall homepage engagement, time spent, page views, and adds to cart remained stable, suggesting that the improvements were specifically concentrated around our targeted promo areas.
These results underscore the value of leveraging robust analytics tools to surface actionable insights and measure the true impact of design changes, allowing us to create a more engaging and strategically effective homepage experience.
